Privacy & Data Use
Last updated October 1, 2026
This page explains, in plain language, what happens to the story and the photos you send us. It describes how we actually operate today. If anything here is unclear, write to us and we will explain it properly.
What we collect
- Contact details you type into the form: your name, your email address, and your country.
- The story itself — the text you write, plus the follow-up answers you choose to give.
- What the book is for: the recipient category and story type you select, so we know how to shape it.
- Photos you upload, if you choose to upload any.
- Basic technical data: the page you arrived from, and a one-way hash of your IP address. We do not store your raw IP address. The hash exists only to stop the form being abused by bots.
What we do with it
We use the information and photos you provide for one purpose: to create your personalized book. That includes reading your story, structuring it, writing and editing it, and designing the pages around your material.
We do not sell your personal stories or photos to third parties. We do not use your story or photos in our own marketing without asking you first, in writing, and getting a clear yes. We do not publish them on this website.
Your photos
Photos you upload are stored in a private area that is separate from our public media library. They are not listed anywhere, not linked from any public page, and are blocked from search engine indexing. Only the people working on your book can open them.
You can ask us to delete your story and photos at any time. When you ask, we remove them — including copies used to prepare your book — and we will confirm when that is done.
Who else sees it
To print and deliver a physical book, we work with printing and shipping partners. They receive only what is needed to produce and deliver the book. We do not hand your material to anyone for advertising, profiling or resale.
We use a small number of service providers to run the site and reply to you by email. They process data on our instructions.
How long we keep it
We keep your story and photos while your book is being discussed, produced and, if needed, reprinted. If you ask us to delete them, we do. If a project goes quiet for a long period, we will contact you before removing anything.
Analytics and cookies
We measure how the site is used so we can tell whether anything is working. This is done with standard analytics tools, and it records page views and clicks — not the content of your story. If you fill in the story form without creating an account (which is how it works), we do not set a login cookie for you.
Children
This service is intended for adults. A book may be about a child, and you may upload photographs of a child. That is between you and us, and those photos are treated exactly like any other material you send: private, unlisted, and deleted on request.
Your choices
- You can ask us what we hold about you.
- You can ask us to correct it.
- You can ask us to delete it.
- You can send your photos and story by email instead of through the form, if you prefer.
Changes to this page
If we change how we handle your material, we will update this page and change the date at the top. We will not quietly widen what we do with your story.

Questions about any of this go to the address on our contact page. A person reads it.
